Interactive Displays in Public Space by Daniel Michelis

"Magical Mirrors is an interactive multi-media installation that carries traditional mirrors into the world of digital media. The mirrors invite the observer to play in front of and with the mirror." (Digital Experience, 2007)

"With the media art installation “Magical Mirrors,” DEON realised the third media system for the SAP’s office building in Berlin-Mitte. The installation allows passers-by to interact directly with the front of the building – they can observe their own alienated live image in four digital “mirrors”. Furthermore, by touching the pulse rate meter, the coloring of the six-storied glass building can be changed. Projections covering the entire front of the building ask for interaction.

Big screens and cameras at the ground floor of the building are used for SAP’s corporate communication during the day. In the evening, the displays turn into magical mirrors, while 17 powerful projectors in areas visible from the outside are activated. Using a pulse rate meter at the entrance of the building, passers-by can control the coloring of the building."(SAP media facade in Berlin)
